slowing down when everything says speed up

Can you relate?
Amid the thousands of tasks that await you as your feet hit the floor at 5 a.m., all in preparation to be out the door by 7:40 a.m., you pause—to serve. Your service might look different than mine. Maybe it's calling a loved one who's been on your mind, taking out the trash for an elderly neighbor, or packing lunches your kids forgot to prepare the night before.

How today started—
This morning began like most: a deep inhale, a slow exhale, and then I hit the ground running. Laundry from washer to dryer, lunch prep, walking the dog, cleaning up from juicing fresh produce, blending smoothies for the kids—and finally, a brief moment to get myself ready before waking them.

Then my husband walked in, and I could tell he needed me.

In the chaos of the morning rush, I felt an overwhelming sense of appreciation for the people in my life. So, I paused. I offered him the support he needed before he headed off to work. Our pup Hazel was close by too—quiet, calm, offering her own kind of comfort.

Sometimes service looks like slowing down when everything says speed up.
